As of March 2015, Smile Train meets the 20 criteria set forth by the Standards of Charity Accountability of the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance. It has received BBB charity accreditation for June 2014 through June 2016.
Smile Train works to help children around the world who suffer with cleft lip and palate. It funds surgeries and strives to improve the quality and safety of cleft care through the establishment of training centers to host symposiums, workshops and clinics. It also provides training grants and educational materials, including videos, help line services, free online access to medical journal articles, and virtual surgery software, to surgeons in more than 70 developing countries.
