The American Cancer Society, ASPCA, Shriners Hospitals for Children, United Way Worldwide and UNICEF are a few charities running mobile giving campaigns, as of 2015. To donate, text the charity's keyword to the assigned shortcode. The amount you donate via text message appears on your wireless bill.
Some carriers that support mobile giving programs include AT&T, T-Mobile USA, Sprint, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular. The wireless carrier passes along 100 percent of the donation amount charged to your bill; therefore, the charity receives 100 percent of your donation amount.
If your wireless plan blocks premium text messaging, you may contact your wireless provider to change the setting. Many charities offer different keywords for varying donation amounts, and you may visit the Mobile Giving Foundation to view participating charities and donation keywords.
