What Is a Casita House?

A casita house is a little house that typically comes with a larger house. A casita can serve as a guest house or an in-law suite that offers more privacy for guests than a room in the main house.

Most casitas feature a bathroom and a kitchen area of some sort. Casitas have become more popular since 2007, due to an increase in multi-generational families sharing a property, As of 2015, the trend is expected to keep growing in popularity, notes Gordon Baker Homes. A casita can also be used as a retreat, a meditation room, a home office, a music room or an art studio.
