Carson's, also known as Carson, Pirie, Scott and Company, launched in 1984 in Illinois. After a Chapter 11 bankruptcy and a series of acquisitions, it was purchased by Bon-Ton in 2006. It is still owned by Bon-Ton as of 2015, along with Bergner's, Elder-Beerman, Boston Stores, Younker's and Herberger's. According to the 2013 Bon-Ton annual report, there were 54 stores operating under the Carson's nameplate spread across Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
