The Canadian Snowbird Association is a non-profit organization that advocates on behalf of Canadians who travel to other countries, particularly the United States. The group works to uphold and improve the rights of Canadians for health care benefits while traveling out of the country.
The Canadian Snowbird Association started in 1992 when a group of Canadians organized a rally in Lakeland, Florida. The purpose of the rally was to bring attention to the medical treatment of Canadians when out of the country. The organization pushed to allow Canadians to travel in the United States for 182 days of the year instead of being reduced to only 30 days per year. The group addresses a number of travel-related concerns of its members.
