In many states, a 15 year old is eligible to work at restaurants, stores and other non-manufacturing jobs. A 15 year old can also work as a lawn mower, dog walker, babysitter or tutor.
Most states require the acquisition of working papers prior to formal employment, and there are also individual laws surrounding the hours and occupations in which a teenager can work. Many positions in a restaurant are ideal for a young person, such as being a host or hostess, food prep worker or register operator. A 15 year old may also be able to find work as a bagger at a grocery store, or as a stockperson.
