An IRS tax refund can be taxed by checking the Where's My Refund? tool at the official website of the Internal Revenue Service, explains the IRS. A taxpayer checking for his status needs his Social Security number, his filing status, and the anticipated amount of his tax refund.
If a taxpayer filed his return electronically, he can expect to start seeing updates on his tax refund 24 hours after he filed his return, says the IRS. Taxpayers who mailed their tax returns can expect status updates up to four weeks after their returns were mailed. An update is provided once every 24 hours.
