Send money electronically through the website or through the Xoom mobile app to friends and family in 38 different countries. To wire the money, sign up for a free Xoom account and then input the recipient's contact details to complete the transfer, according to Xoom's official website.
Creating an account with Xoom requires basic contact information such as the sender's name, email address, telephone number and a unique password. Once the account is ready, the sender can choose to pay with either a credit card or bank account, explains Xoom. The sender also has three different options for wiring the money: bank transfer, cash pickup or door-to-door cash delivery. However, both cash pickup and door-to-door cash delivery are only available in certain countries.
Once the sender submits information for the recipient, method of payment and method of transfer to Xoom, the money is wired instantly to the recipient for a small fee paid for by the sender. The destination country for the money transfer and the type of account used to send the money affect the final fees for the transaction, notes Xoom. For example, using a credit card costs more than using a bank account to send the funds.
