As of September 2015, customers can save money at Shell using the Shell Drive for Five Card or the Shell Platinum Select MasterCard, as the company's website reports. Shell also offers a debit card, the Shell Saver Card, that helps users save money.
The Shell Drive For Five Card is a credit card that provides cardholders with a 5-cent-per-gallon discount on each gallon of Shell fuel that they purchase, according to Shell's website. Cardholders enjoy having no minimum purchase requirement and no savings cap as of September 2015. They can also pay at the pump and manage their accounts online. Cardholders can obtain additional cards for family members at no cost, and they can pay their bills in full each month or make the minimum payment.
The Shell Platinum Select MasterCard potentially provides cardholders with a 10-to-20-cent-per-gallon statement credit when they make at least $500 in purchases using the Shell MasterCard during a billing cycle, as Shell indicates. Personal, family or household purchases of $500 to $999.99 earn a 10-cent-per-gallon credit, and purchases of $1,000 to $2,499.99 earn a 15-cent-per-gallon credit. Purchases of $2,500 or more earn 20 cents per gallon. However, only the first 100 gallons of Shell fuel purchased during a billing cycle qualify for the credit.
The Shell Saver Card is a debit card that links to the cardholder's checking account and provides a 2-cent-per-gallon discount of each purchase of Shell gasoline or diesel fuel, as indicated by Shell. Using this card to make a purchase results in an automatic deduction of the purchase amount from the cardholder's checking account. There are no enrollment fees, annual fees or finance fees, and the cardholder can use the Shell Save Card to purchase other goods and services.
