Due to government regulations, the most current Dental Procedure Code list is not widely available online. Each year the ADA updates the list, either adding, deleting or revising the codes, so any online code lists may be out of date. A previous 2013-2014 list is available for reference at the Dentrix website, but may not include some relevant information.

According to the ADA, the code list is also available using the CDT Code Check app for iOS and Android mobile devices. The app includes a searchable database of codes from 2015 and 2014. The app also highlights the latest updates and code changes to ensure that users choose the most current codes.

The "Current Dental Terminology Code," mandated by the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, is a set of standardized terms, dental procedures and billing codes used by dental practitioners and insurance companies to streamline payments and control administrative costs in the health care industry. Payment to dental professionals is based on the CDT code reported on the ADA Claim Form. The Dental Procedure Code is only used in the United States.
