The website of the Internal Revenue Service features a form for users to fill out to check the status of their tax refunds. The IRS sends most refunds within 21 days of filing, according to its website.
The IRS website's Where's My Refund? form provides an estimate for delivery, and it is available for use 24 hours after electronic filing or four weeks after paper filing. The form requires a Social Security number, the refund amount and the filing status in order to retrieve tax return information. The IRS also provides a phone number for obtaining information about return dates, but calling does not result in a quicker delivery.
