Charts with estimated federal income tax refund cycles for 2014 returns are available on sites including Saving2Invest.com and RefundSchedule.com. The IRS no longer provides refund cycle charts, so the available charts are estimates based on IRS guidance and past processing times.
The IRS suggests that taxpayers allow up to 21 days for processing an electronically filed return and longer for a mailed return. The IRS provides daily updates for the status of individual refunds in the Where's My Refund? section of its website. Unlike cycle charts, this link provides information specific to the taxpayer. The IRS has also created a mobile app, IRS2Go, for Apple and Android devices, to check refund status.
