Each subsection page, including income, lists popular tables from different surveys and censuses for detailed demographic information. For instance, as of 2015, the New York ZIP code 10016 lists the Selected Economic Characteristics table from the 2013 American Community Survey. This table includes median income as well as more detailed economic information such as the employment industry, occupation, detailed income subgroups, and family income.

Prior to the 2010 census, the U.S. Census Bureau found detailed demographic information using a long-form census. The U.S. Census publishes a yearly updated American Community Survey to replace the old long-form census results, as of 2015.

Other websites also provide median income information, generally sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau. ESRI.com provides a map-based ZIP-code search for demographic information. It divides the population into specific categories based on that information, such as Metro Renters and Trendsetters. The U.S. Census Bureau also offers a second search option at QuickFacts.Census.gov, with a map and search bar for convenient access to essential facts, however, it does not list information down to ZIP-code accuracy.
