A mailing list of multifamily homes for sale is found on the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development website. The emails include an invitation to bid on multifamily properties when they are advertised for sale.
A multifamily property has five or more units, but occasionally other types of properties are designated as a multifamily property, such as hospitals, mobile home parks and vacant land, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban development. HUD.gov typically puts multifamily properties up for sale at the time of foreclosure, but there are some exceptions to that rule. It also has a weekly listing of multifamily properties available for sale in the event a mailing list is not desirable. To bid on a property in the weekly listing, a "free info and bid kit" is available upon request from HUD.gov and a Realty Specialist is assigned to each property to answer any questions.
