Most sites require a subscription to search for health insurance codes. There are sites that allow code searches at no cost. However, many do not include all health codes or limit the number of searchable codes for each user.
Current procedural terminology, or CPT, codes are five-digit codes that describe procedures and other medical services performed by doctors. International classification of diseases, or ICD, codes are codes used to describe the specific disease or condition treated.
Both ICD and CPT codes can be found online, but sites may require a subscription to view all of them. The amount each site charges vary depending on which site the user visits.
The American Medical Association website allows users to search, at no charge, CPT codes. However, the number of searches a user can perform is limited.
