Who Can Join the VFW?

In order to join the Veterans of Foreign Wars, or VFW, veterans must have served either for 30 consecutive or a total of 60 non-consecutive days in Korea, earned a campaign medal for service overseas, or received imminent danger or hostile fire pay from the U.S. military.

There are approximately 1.9 million members of the VFW in the United States, as of June 2015. Members serve veterans and the military community in numerous ways, such as providing over $3 million in college scholarships and bonds annually, volunteering with community organizations, and lobbying for improvements in government policies that affect veterans, current military members and their families.
