Several publications, like Forbes, the Money division of Time magazine and the Money section of U.S. News and World Report, give yearly listings of the country's best banks. There are many different factors that come together to bring banks onto these lists.
The number of locations and products available to customers are a factor in the rankings as well as the amount of profit those banks brought in for the fiscal year. The housing market and how well the banks profited off of the mortgages they approved and equity that was gained in those home loans are also factors. Other banks made it onto the lists with their customer service and interest rates. The variations in the lists allow potential customers to search these lists for the qualities they want most in a bank.
