Forklift license training is available at training schools such as Allstate Commercial Driver Training School in Connecticut and Ferrari Driving School in New York. Atlanta Technical College in Georgia also offers forklift certification programs
Forklift driving license training is available in one-, two- or multiple-day courses, and short programs teach basic skills necessary to safely operate a forklift on the job. Ferrari Driving School offers one-day training that meets Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards. Certification is available for Class I or Class II electric motor forklift types. Part one of the Atlanta Technical College forklift program teaches students how to do pre-operational maintenance checks. Students also learn how to drive, load and maneuver the forklift.
During part two of the class, instruction involves safety measures during operation and students are given a driving test. Allstate offers forklift training for beginners and experienced operators. Beginners can opt for the three-day program designed to teach sit-down propane, sit-down electric and electric pallet jack forklift skills. The five-day program includes learning how to operate the Raymond stand-up narrow aisle picker, and its seven-day program covers the stand-up electric forklift and the order picker.
Experienced forklift operators can re-certify an existing license or refresh skills by taking a customized training course.
