Federal pay schedules are available online on the websites of the Office of Personnel Management and the Defense Civilian Personnel Advisory Service, as of 2015. Both websites feature updated pay schedules for general and specialized sectors.
The OPM website lists general and locality pay tables as well as schedules for law enforcement officers, executives and senior-level employees. The website also features a section that covers special rate tables. Each pay schedule is available in spreadsheet, PDF and HTML format. Users can view schedules for the current year and the four most recent years.
The DCPAS website, which is a subsidiary of the Department of Defense, covers the pay schedules for appropriated fund employees and non-appropriated fund employees. It also provides information about special positions, including overseas educators in DOD-dependent schools and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers power rate employees. Each broad category is broken into multiple sub-categories. Individual schedules are available as PDF documents on the DCPAS website.
The OPM and the DOD hold different responsibilities in relation to federal pay. The OPM acts in an advisory role in the process of maintaining the federal wage system and setting pay tables for general schedule employees and law enforcement workers. Using that input, the DOD is responsible for issuing the individual pay schedules.
