Examples of written nomination letters are available on Brown University's website, Emory University's website or at SampleLettersWorld.com. The samples available on Emory University's website include letters for a few different nomination categories, such as a scholar award, a humanitarian award and professionals award.
A nomination letter should begin with the writer identifying how he is affiliated with the nominee and in what capacity the writer has worked with the nominee. A boss generally nominates an employee for an award or promotion, while a family member or friend may also nominate someone for an award. Character strengths and examples of volunteer work or selfless acts should be included in the nomination letter.
