Buy land from the government through the U.S. General Services Administration's (GSA) online auction site, GSA Auctions. GSA Auctions allows the public to register and bid on available property, including land, warehouses, commercial buildings, residential homes and historic lighthouses, according to the GSA official website.
Auctioning off unneeded properties allows the government to be more sustainable, and the GSA Auctions website provides an easy way for the public to purchase those properties, states the U.S. General Services Administration.
- Log on to the official GSA Auctions website
- Register for a GSA Auctions account
- Choose the "Land" category from the sidebar on the homepage
- Click on desired land purchase
The GSA Auctions homepage lists featured properties, available categories of properties and a map of the United States labeling where available sales are located.
Fill out the form using personal or company information, depending on desired appearance on the sale paperwork. Once the form is completed, click "Continue."
A list will appear of land for sale with its location, price, number of bids and when that particular auction will be closing.
A page will open that features in-depth details about the land that was chosen along with "Place Bid" and "Add to Favorites" buttons. Click "Place Bid" to enter the auction and eventually buy the land.
