An IPPC stamp is not available for purchase. The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) is part of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), which monitors international trade involving wood and the potential to transfer wood pests between countries.
The IPPC sets standards for how wood should be treated, whether through heat or fumigation, before it enters another country. Companies that wish to offer services for processing wood must consult with the FAO or IPPC to establish protocols and standards that warrant the receipt of stamping rights and materials. The American Lumber Standard Committee works hand-in-hand with the IPPC and makes resources available for interested companies.
