Assurance Wireless provides an online application for those seeking free government cellular phones on its website, AssuranceWireless.com. Applicants must provide some personal information and meet certain criteria to be eligible for the service.
On the main Assurance home page, there is an application link for new customers labeled Apply Now. After clicking on this link, a text box prompts the applicant to provide a street address and ZIP code to determine if Assurance provides free phones to that area. If so, several check boxes ask about household income and size of household. Assurance uses this information to determine eligibility. An applicant then moves through the remaining steps of the application process, sets up a user account, electronically signs the application and provides proof of eligibility documents. The site also allows applicants to check the status of applications already submitted on the Assurance website.
