As of July 2015, the Visa Black card is not accepting new applications, according to the card's website. Consumers can sign up to be notified when applications reopen by entering their email address in the notification box.
The Visa Black Card is a luxury reward credit card issued by Barclays, reports Martha C. White for Time. The card offers access to VIP airport lounges around the world and provides 24-hour concierge service to cardholders. Clients can access the concierge service to make entertainment and dining plans, obtain business services, book travel arrangements and purchase gifts. The card has a steep annual fee of $495 for the primary card user and $195 for each additional user. Despite its heavy annual fees and exclusive reputation, the Visa Black Card offers fewer perks than comparable luxury cards. It was cited as the worst consumer credit card in 2012.
The Visa Black Card is marketed as a status symbol for the financial elite. Barclays claims only 1 percent of applicants qualify for the card, which requires an excellent credit rating, explains Jason Steele for Money Crashers. One of the card's most noteworthy features is the range of insurance products that come with it. These include coverage for delayed bags, cancelled travel and trip interruptions, states The Motley Fool.
