Wal-Mart says that its application takes about 30 minutes to an hour to complete, and it is available in both English and Spanish. Online applicants that save the application form have 60 days to return and complete it. Applications are accepted only for stores already open or that are 56 days or less from opening. Applicants must create an account using their Social Security numbers, and they must agree to a background check and a drug screening. Next, applicants provide reference information, employment histories and details about special skills, such as bilingualism. An employment questionnaire asks about criminal and education background, among other things. The pre-employment assessment test looks at employer and employee relations and work-related situations, and at the applicant's work ethic, behavior, self discipline and other aspects.
