The American Legion Flag and Emblem website and free print catalog feature a variety of items, including flags and banners, books, clothing and accessories. Proceeds from the website and the catalog help support American Legion programs, such as The American Legacy Scholarship program, The Family Support Network and the legislative fund used to protect the rights of veterans.
Chartered by the United States congress in 1919, the American Legion has over 2.4 million members. The organization maintains 55 departments, one in each state, as well as departments in the District of Columbia, Mexico, France, Puerto Rico and the Philippines. In addition to supporting veterans by providing health, education and rehabilitation services, the organization also provides community services, including youth programs.
The American Legion requires support from volunteers to organize and manage its programs, and also financial support from charitable donations and sales from its online and print catalogs. The organization holds an annual conference in Washington, D.C. that provides an opportunity for government officials and American Legion leadership to discuss future projects and initiatives. American Legion members may also attend the conference to share ideas or concerns about the organization.
