National and international BenFeds dental plans include MetLife, Aetna Dental, Delta Dental, EmblemHealth and the Federal Employee Program BlueDental, all of which are preferred provider organization plans, according to BeneFeds. Available plans depend on location, with both international and national and regional plans participating in the program.
The Aetna Dental PPO plan covers 100 percent of basic services received either in-network or out-of-network including oral examinations, X-rays, diagnostic evaluations, sealants and prophylaxis, notes BeneFeds. The plan also covers 60 percent of intermediate services, such as tooth extractions and periodontal scaling, and 40 percent of major services, such as oral surgery and bridges, whether or not the individual receives services in- or out-of-network. It also covers 50 percent of orthodontic services with no age limit.
The Federal Employee BlueDental insurance plan covers 10 percent less for any services received out-of-network than in-network, according to the BeneFeds website. For example, BlueDental covers 100 percent of basic services and 70 percent of intermediate services received in-network, but only covers 90 percent of basic services and 60 percent of intermediate services received out-of-network. BlueDental covers 50 percent of orthodontic services with an annual maximum benefit per person of $15,000 for in-network services and $3,000 for out-of-network services. There is no age limit and no waiting period for orthodontic services.
