WalMart's prescription program allows WalMart customers to save on generic prescription drugs, paying as little as $4 for a 30 day supply or $10 for a 90 day supply, as of 2015. Some drugs cost a little more. The full list of included medications is available as a PDF download on WalMart.com. The Web page also sorts included medications by category.
The WalMart prescription program does not require membership and has saved customers an estimated $3 billion, according to the company. WalMart provides added convenience by offering an Easy Pay service to save time at the checkout counter, a free Ready Reminders text message when a prescription is ready, an auto refill option and free shipping to anywhere in the country.
Categories of included drugs include asthma, cholesterol, men's health, skin conditions and vitamins. Technically, the list includes four separate programs offered by the store: a $4 plan covering 30 day prescriptions, a $9 plan covering 30 day supplies of drugs left uncovered by the $4 plan, a $10 plan covering 90 day prescriptions and a $24 plan covering 90 day supplies of some medications not included in the $10 plan. The $4 and $10 plans do not necessarily overlap, and the mail order component varies slightly from all of the plans described above. Covered drugs are included only in the listed dosage, stronger dosages cost more.
Prorated pricing is available for quantities exceeding 30 days but less than 90 days at the $4 plan rate, not exceeding $10. Prescriptions lasting longer than 90 days have prorated pricing based on the $10 plan. Health insurance coverage may impact the options any individual customer may have.
