Wal-Mart offers its employees health insurance plans, in-store discounts and matching contributions to a retirement plan. The company also allows associates to purchase Wal-Mart stock with a corporate match. Wal-Mart matches 401(k) contributions for up to 6 percent of an associate’s salary.
Wal-Mart’s insurance plan includes medical, dental and vision coverage, as well as a company-financed life insurance policy. Associates customize their insurance through consumer-directed plans, such as Health Reimbursement Accounts and Health Savings Accounts. Some Wal-Mart stores also offer HMO plans. In addition to in-store discounts, Wal-Mart provides an online discount center that offers associates savings on travel and wireless services.
