UPS invests $300 million a year in training programs to help existing employees expand their marketable skills and move upward within the organization. UPS also provides tuition assistance for employees attending college. The Tuition Assistance Program has funded over $187 million dollars in college tuition since its inception in 1999. UPS also offers an online undergraduate program through Thomas Edison State College.
UPS employees select from several health and wellness plans. In addition to medical coverage and life insurance, UPS workers are eligible for sickness insurance, accident insurance, long-term disability, health spending accounts and childcare spending accounts. For union employees, UPS makes contributions to union health care plans.
Discounted stock is available to UPS employees through the employee discounted stock purchase plan. In addition to direct cash purchases, employees can use their 401(k) plans to make stock purchases.
