The Universal Visa card is a prepaid debit card that is an accepted form of payment at many businesses in the United States and internationally. Among its other benefits are a reward program that accrues bonuses from participating retailers, and its acceptance for online purchases, according to My Prepaid Center.
The reward program gives Universal Visa card users an automatic 5 percent return on purchases from a select list of businesses, including AMC theatres, KMart, Lowe's and Staples. All rewards that a card user earns under this program appear automatically as part of the balance of her Universal Visa Card within 10 days, shares My Prepaid Center.
Universal Visa Card users can make payments online in the same way that they would use a credit card, including the use of the three-digit code on the back of the card to finalize purchases with some online retailers. However, any user with a Universal Visa Card that does not have her name on the front needs to register the card online with My Prepaid Center to allow online retailers to verify her address. A limitation of the Universal Visa Card is that rental car agencies and hotels do not accept the card for reservations, states My Prepaid Center.
