Many freelancers live in foreign countries where bank transfer payments are high, decreasing the worker's pay or increasing the cost of hiring the worker. As of 2015, Payoneer operates in over 200 countries and issues payments in more than 100 currencies, making it easier for workers to receive payments for work originating in another location. Payments the freelancer earns are available for withdrawal within two hours of receipt, eliminating the long delays associated with many bank transfers. The company offers a multilingual customer service staff to provide assistance as necessary.
Since the card only works when funds are available, it incurs no overdraft fees. Account holders also have the option of transferring funds to their bank account, if they have one, or through an eWallet.
Payoneer incorporated in 2005, and its headquarters are in New York City. Companies that use Payoneer to issue payments include Google, Elance, iStockPhotos and Quantum Solutions. Research participants at the New York Hospital also receive their stipends through Payoneer.Learn more about Personal Banking
