The benefits of opening a United Services Automobile Association credit card account vary depending on the card, according to the organization. Some cards have lower rates than other USAA credit cards, and some offer cash back on purchases. Some USAA accounts allow cardholders to earn points that are redeemable for rewards.
Credit cards with cash back rewards include the Preferred Cash Rewards World MasterCard, the Cashback Rewards Plus American Express Card and the Cash Rewards Visa, as of 2015. The USAA's three rewards cards include the USAA Rewards American Express card, the USAA Rewards World MasterCard and USAA Rewards Visa. The association's credit cards advertised as low rate cards include cards with both MasterCard and Visa logos. The USAA also offers cards that help those with bad credit ratings improve their scores and cards with programs that support military affiliates, the organization reports.
The USAA provides banking services, insurance and retirement savings solutions for military members and their families. In order to join, applicants must have served in one of the U.S. military branches, be in a ROTC program, attend a military academy, or have a family member who possessed USAA auto or property insurance. Additional benefits, such as adjusted annual rates and military uniforms, are available to currently deployed members, explains the USAA.
