The Green Dot prepaid debit card allows customers to shop online and pay bills without any risk of overdraft fees, says Green Dot. Customers can get a debit card with no credit check.
Customers can purchase a Green Dot card for $4.95 or less at a retail location, such as a CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, 7-Eleven or Walgreens, or order a card online for free, as of 2015, notes Green Dot. Once they have the card, customers must add funds before they can make purchases. There is no minimum balance requirement and customers can access funds from the account for free at MoneyPass ATM locations. Green Dot charges $2.50 for using other ATM locations.
The Green Dot card offers customers low fees. For example, Green Dot waives the $5.95 monthly fee if the customer deposits $1,000 or makes 30 purchases in a month. Customers can set up direct deposit to the card at no charge or load funds at a store location for $4.95 or less, states Green Dot.
Card holders also enjoy free account access using a mobile phone app where they can register and activate their card, check their balance, review transactions and locate nearby MoneyPass ATMs, advises Green Dot.
