AppleCare coverage provides technical support, hardware protection and software support through Apple's customer service team. AppleCare insurance is available on all the company's major products, according to Apple. Training and diagnostic tools, 24/7 IT department technical support, and other support plans for small and large businesses are also available.
The main purpose of AppleCare is to provide individual and business customers with extended warranties on Apple products, such as the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, MacBooks, iMacs and Mac Pros. For example, the regular warranty on a Macbook lasts for 90 days, states Apple. However, AppleCare extends this warranty and technical support to three years. Global repair coverage, and mail-in and carry-in repairs are part of AppleCare.
Customers who have iPhones enjoy two years of extensive protection through AppleCare+, compared to the regular 60-day protection, notes Apple. This protection covers the phone, battery and included accessories. Coverage is available for accidental damage costs, but there is an attached service fee for those repairs.
Businesses of any size may benefit from AppleCare's OS Support, which offers up to six specialist support contacts, a one- to four-hour response time for serious issues, and 24/7 coverage for minor issues. There are three levels of OS Support: Select, Preferred and Alliance, states Apple.
