The Anthem Senior Advantage Plus plan covers doctor office visits, emergency care, inpatient hospital care, outpatient surgery and ambulance service, according to Healthpocket. Members can receive dental treatment, hearing exams, vision services, renal dialysis and home health care. Coverage also includes durable medical equipment, diabetes supplies, prosthetic devices, and necessary diagnostic or lab testing.
Senior Advantage Plus also provides prescription drug coverage, allows members to choose from among participating physicians, and covers outpatient rehabilitation and up to 100 days in a skilled nursing facility, reports Healthpocket. The plan receives three-and-a-half stars from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, or CMS, which falls between average and above average. Its highest ratings are related to improving or maintaining physical health, customer satisfaction and resolution of complaints.
Senior Advantage Plus is a Medicare Advantage HMO available in some parts of Ohio under Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, says MedicareHelp.org. It is a Medicare Part C plan that supplements the services and benefits available under Medicare Parts A and B. Members also receive their Parts A and B services from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield rather than original Medicare. As an HMO, it requires members to choose a primary care physician who provides all basic health care services and makes referrals to other providers as necessary.
