As a part of the larger Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem provides nationwide coverage using preferred providers, according to the company’s website. While the Anthem provider network covers all of California, members who live or work outside of the state enjoy the same contract prices by choosing an in-network provider from the parent organization.
Anthem Blue Cross offers a variety of types of PPO options, according to its website. The One Plan PPO is for employers who want provide an easy-to-administer plan for their employees. It has a zero in-network deductible and provides a tiered prescription plan. The GenRX PPO plan saves money upfront, but only includes coverage for generic prescription medication. With this plan, the patient pays the cost of nongeneric prescriptions, but at the lower price negotiated by Blue Cross.
