If attending medical professionals determine that the medical emergency is a threat to life or limb, Air Evac flies members to the nearest medical facility capable of handling the particular medical problem, explains Air Evac Lifeteam. Eligible medical situations for helicopter evacuation include strokes, heart attacks and traumatic injuries. Air Evac Lifeteam does not limit the number of flights a member can receive in a year as long as the medical emergency necessitates helicopter extraction.
When Air Evac Lifeteam members encounter a medical emergency, they first call 911. Ground medical personnel and Air Evac decide if helicopter extraction is necessary. Members receive membership cards and stickers for their houses and vehicles so that emergency personnel can identify them as Air Evac members. After members use emergency helicopter evacuation, Air Evac works with their benefits providers to handle the cost of the service, states Air Evac Lifeteam. Air Evac considers any amount that the member's insurance does not cover to be prepaid, and members are never sent a bill.Learn more about Health Insurance
