QVC recruits hosts through external casting agencies, typically hiring individuals who have on-camera experience; however, there are opportunities for individuals to appear on the network as guests, sharing expertise on products. Becoming an on-air guest requires substantial knowledge of retail products, an audition video and the ability to travel to the company’s studios in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
QVC on-air guests must have significant experience in one or more product categories, ideally from a retail or sales perspective. Guest hosts must be able to describe products to viewers articulately without sounding like they are trying to make a sale. They must also be friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
To apply for a guest host position on QVC, submit a short video of yourself discussing any product. Keep audition videos to between three and five minutes in length. It should feature you talking about the product or demonstrating its features. Dress appropriately for the product, and shoot the video against a blank wall with no windows or background decorations. In addition to the product demonstration, spend about 30 seconds explaining why you are qualified to present the selected products.
After creating an audition video, upload the file to a video site, such as YouTube or Vimeo, and send QVC an email with a link to the video. Don't include video attachments in emails to the network.
