Panasonic, Automotive Energy Supply Corporation, Energizer and Duracell are among the leading battery manufacturers in the United States. Panasonic and AESC specialize on electric vehicle batteries, while Energizer and Duracell produce consumer batteries.
Panasonic and AESC owned 45 percent and 18 percent of the electric vehicle market share respectively during the first quarter of 2015, according to CleanTechnica.com. Panasonic's success is partly due to its partnership with Tesla. AESC, however, experienced a market share dive in 2015 due to Nissan's decision to source batteries from LG instead. In the consumer battery industry, Energizer and Duracell are the major competitors, with each company having a net worth of more than $3 billion.
