The Barclays capital aggregate bond index tracks investment grade bonds currently traded in the United States, according to ETF Database. The index also tracks exchange-traded funds and broader-market index funds.
Formerly known as the Lehman Brothers aggregate bond index, Barclays acquired the now-defunct Lehman Brothers in September 2008. The index tracks a wide range of investment-grade, fixed-income securities with maturity dates of more than one year, explains Barclays. The index contains government and corporate bonds, mortgage-backed securities and investment-grade, dollar-denominated bonds. Barclays provides users with real-time quotes for indices across the globe, including the global green bond index and the global aggregate index.
