A biomedical technician works at a medical facility, medical supplier or medical supply manufacturer. He maintains, repairs, tests and inspects medical equipment to ensure supplies are safe to use and operate as designed. Biomedical technicians often conduct research to evaluate new equipment and processes so as to stay current on developments in the field. Many positions in the field require a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician certification, and an associate’s degree is generally required. In some cases, advanced degrees are required for more complex jobs.
