Anyone who wants to work for Wal-Mart as a truck driver may apply online through its website at jobs.walmart.com. Here, a potential applicant can search through open positions all over the nation, as well as the descriptions for each job and any minimum qualifications.
Wal-Mart has a very specific list of qualifications for its driver applicants. Potential drivers must have a Class A Commercial Driver License with Hazmat endorsement and background; if they do not, they must have plans to obtain them in the immediate future. Applicants must also have at least 30 months of experience in a full-time Class A tractor or trailer driving position within the past 3 years.
Applicants must have a relatively clean driving record, with no violations or minor accidents in the past 3 years, no DUIs or major accidents in the past 10 years, and no accidents resulting in catastrophic injury or death throughout drivers' histories.
An accident is only punished if Wal-Mart determines the accident could have been avoided by the driver, as according to ATA guidelines. If a driver plans to apply to a specific Wal-Mart location, he must live within 250 miles of that location or be willing to establish a new residence within that radius.
