Users can apply for three different types of Shell Oil credit cards on the company's website at Shell.us. To meet basic qualifications, applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a U.S. Social Security number and live in the United States, the website states.
Shell offers three options of gas credit cards: a Drive for Five discount card, a Platinum Mastercard and a commercial card, according to Shell. After choosing a type of Shell gas credit card, the applicant follows prompts to a Citibank web page where the application process starts. The application requires entering personal information, including email address, name and home phone number, according to Citibank. The applicant also must enter financial information such as annual salary, residence status and monthly mortgage or rent payment.
Finally, the applicant provides security information including date of birth, social security number, identification card type and a driver's license or a nondriver photo ID number, according to Citibank. Puerto Rican residents must be 21 years old to apply. After entering all the required information, the applicant verifies the information and submits the application. Citibank usually provides an immediate response and, if the application is approved, mails the card within 14 days, according to Citibank.
