According to their 2014-2015 report, the National Committee for Quality Assurance ranked eight AmeriGroup Medicaid state plans in their top 125 list of plans. Three other states received NCQA accreditation, but did not receive a ranking because of partial data.
AmeriGroup began with a vision to provide health care for low income and disabled patients, according to the Health Insurance Providers. The company works with state governments to provide Medicare and Medicaid programs for qualifying patients. AmeriGroup’s emphasis on lower-income patients may affect their profitability, which can be a reason that independent auditors do not give the company a higher ranking. AmeriGroup Health Insurance Company provides service in eleven states, notes NCQA.
