Owing to a 2014 merger, Emeritus Senior Living now operates as Brookdale Senior Living.
Brookdale Senior Living operates approximately 1,100 senior living facilities nationwide as of 2015. Each facility and its environs are different, so there is no standard set of amenities that are typical of all Brookdale assisted living communities. Most Brookdale communities offer independent and assisted living, with residents situated like neighbors.
Brookdale Senior Living assisted living communities tend to be strategically placed near prominent medical facilities, shopping and performance venues, senior services centers and thoroughfares. Some communities feature shuttles that convey residents to desired locations. Brookdale community campuses verge upon rural, with trees and wide green spaces that are professionally landscaped and constantly maintained.
The actual living spaces differ between Brookdale communities. Some are one- and two-bedroom cottages, while others are studios or apartments.
Some residential spaces have walk-in showers with shower benches, handheld shower hoses, and individualized heating and air controls. Socially oriented amenities include game rooms and scheduled group events on game nights, sun patios for enjoyment during clement weather and sidewalks within the community for strolling the campus.
