Amazon.com's basic return policy is that customers can return items within 30 days of receipt of shipment, with some exceptions. The company's refund policy varies based on the method of payment and the condition of the item as compared to when the customer received it.
Customers can send most baby products back within 90 days of receipt of shipment to receive a refund. They can return computers for full refunds within 30 days if the computers fail to start through no fault of the customers. They must use tracking for shipping for fine art products that are $75 or more in price, while fine art pieces that are more than $500 need insurance.
Fresh flowers, indoor plants, live animals, groceries and wine may receive a refund, but Amazon does accept them as returns. Customers cannot return hazardous items to Amazon and have to contact the manufacturers to see about refunds.
Customers who pay by credit card or Amazon.com gift cards receive refunds in three to five business days following reception of returned items. Those who pay using their checking accounts may wait up to 10 days. Some cases result in only partial refunds, as with opened CD or DVD cases or items with missing parts upon being returned.
