At What Age Can You Start Using Your Retirement Benefits Under the FRS Pension Plan?

Under the Florida Retirement System Pension Plan, an employee who enrolled before July 1, 2011, may begin to receive full retirement benefits after age 62 with at least six years of service or at any age with at least 30 years of service, according to MyFRS.

Employees who enrolled in the FRS Pension Plan after July 1, 2011, may begin to receive full retirement benefits after age 65 with at least eight years of service or at any age with at least 33 years of service. Employees may choose to retire early to receive benefits sooner, but they will be subject to a benefit deduction equal to 5 percent for each year that their actual retirement age is under the normal retirement age.
