Formerly known as the Grand Old Lady of Oxford Street, the Palace Theatre opened in 1891 featuring a ballet show entitled "Cleopatra." It is located on the north-east portion of Oxford Street right on the corner of Whitworth Street. It used to seat an audience of 3,675, but the capacity has since been whittled down to less than 2,000. Other than by train, the theatre can be reached by car, tram, coach and bus.
