The easiest way to whiten your nails naturally is to scrub them with a mixture of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and lemon juice. The supplies you need for this 55-minute procedure are a small bowl, measuring spoons, warm water, hydrogen peroxide, a lemon wedge, baking soda, an old toothbrush, hand towels, moisturizing balm and cotton gloves.
- Mix the whitening paste
Squeeze a lemon wedge into a small bowl. If any seeds fall in, scoop them out. Add 2 1/2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon hydrogen peroxide. Stir the ingredients into a thick paste.
- Brush your nails
Dunk the toothbrush into the whitening paste, and apply it to your nails and cuticles. Scrub your nails for up to five minutes.
- Soak your nails
Stick your fingertips into the bowl, and submerge them in the whitening paste. Leave them there for 15 minutes.
- Rinse your nails
Rinse your nails under warm running water, and use the toothbrush to remove all the paste. Dry your hand on a towel, and repeat the whitening procedure on your other hand.
- Moisturize your cuticles and fingers
Apply a generous amount of nourishing balm to your cuticles and fingertips. Slip on cotton moisturizing gloves, and wear them for at least 20 minutes. This prevents uncomfortable dryness caused by the lemon juice and hydrogen peroxide.
